Known historically as Bì (璧) or Fěicuì (翡翠), jade is one of humanity’s oldest gemstones, with a history spanning over 7,000 years. It was not until 1863 that mineralogists formally distinguished jade into two distinct minerals: jadeite and nephrite.

Jadeite Jade

Renowned for its brilliance and rarity, jadeite appears in a wide spectrum of colors, including green, white, pink, red, black, brown, and purple. The most prized hue—Imperial Green—is exclusive to jadeite. With superior translucency and luster, jadeite possesses a Mohs hardness of 6.5–7.0.

Nephrite Jade

Nephrite is found in medium to dark green, greyish-green, as well as white, yellowish, and reddish tones. Known for its toughness and smooth texture, it has a hardness of 6.0–6.5.

Among all jade varieties, Burmese jadeite from Myanmar is regarded as the finest in the world, celebrated for its vibrant color, purity, and exceptional quality.
