Historically, natural Akoya pearls were captured in the wild by AMAs , the legendary female divers of Japan.

Akoya Pearl was first successfully cultured in 1893 by Sir Kokichi Mikimoto -“Father of Cultured Pearls”, a great achievement that gave rise to the pearl culture industry we know today.

Akoya Cultured Pearls are cultured in marine farms in Japan, China and Vietnam. Over 95% of Akoya Pearls are cultured in the Sea of Japan
